The end of an era

Yes, that is my iPod after it jumped from the dash of my car into moving traffic. We had great times together, since the beginning when my iPod taught me about my horrible taste in music. It was preceeded and is survived by brother Powerbook(the older cousin of MacBook Pro) who joined the team in June 2005 and shortly developed into a minor obsession.

I feel that a new era might be near.

Better that it died in the course of duty than seing yet one more electronic device get upgraded while the predecessor lives forever in a drawyer without battery power or human interaction. Can I show you something in a 1992 "portable" IBM computer? Perhaps a pre Y2K ipod or a rarely used zip drive etc etc. Your old ipod knew what it was doing when it jumped, knowing you were only hours away from the apple store. It has avoided a lingering future

Great point. That Steve Job's is on smart cookie - he created self-aware devices. I'd been wondering where my Zip Drive went. Perhaps, if you hold on to those things long enough, they will accrue value, like baseball cards. I'll trade you a first generation iPod for your 18-pound portable. I'll have you know that my memories of that old iPod are already fading.

Tim, I feel your pain. I had a disc man type player, leap from a chair lift, because it too knew that it's days were numbered. However even though it is gone, the memories will live on. Like those little ditties you can't stop humming, they will actually be memories of the good times you had with iPod.

Tutsch, I would like to point out a spelling mistake on your grammatically correct website. During your iPod post you wrote "since the beginning when my iPod taught be about my horrible taste in music." I believe the 'be' in this sentence was intended to be a 'me'. You can thank me later.
